Join IFMA Manitoba for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Desautels Concert Hall — the University of Manitoba’s newest performance venue and the final phase of the transformative Taché Arts Project. The Desautels Concert Hall is a state-of-the art, intimate performance venue in the heart of the Fort Garry campus. With its stunning architecture, superior acoustics, optimal sightlines and a configurable stage for a variety of performances, it is the University of Manitoba's showpiece venue.

The evening will be guided by Trevor Thimm, Senior Designer and Project Manager at Cibinel Architecture, who led the project. Trevor will walk attendees through the design process, key innovations, and technical challenges of creating a world-class venue for music and performance arts.

About Our Host

Trevor Thimm
Senior Designer & Project Manager 
Cibinel Architecture

Trevor joined Cibinel Architecture Ltd in 2018 as a senior designer and project manager and has over 20 years of international experience in architecture, urban design, and the coordination of large-scale projects involving multi-disciplinary teams. He has extensive experience in collaborating with client groups, consultant teams, and city officials to navigate the design and approvals process.

Before returning to Winnipeg, Trevor was an associate in the Vancouver studio of DIALOG, where he played a leading role in numerous projects including the rezoning phase of BIG’s highly anticipated Vancouver House project, the West Vancouver Police Services and Municipal Hall project, and the Gateway Residence mixed-use development at Park Royal Shopping Centre.

Prior to joining DIALOG, Trevor was an associate at Moshe Safdie and Associates in Boston where he was involved in a range of highly complex institutional, commercial, and cultural projects including the new ATF National Headquarters in Washington, DC and the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort in Singapore. 

Trevor holds degrees in environmental design from Dalhousie University and the University of Manitoba and a Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University.
